FAQs

Semi-permanent makeup, also referred to as permanent makeup, cosmetic tattooing and micro-pigmentation, is an advanced technique of implanting coloured pigment below the surface of the skin to simulate subtle and natural looking cosmetics.
Imagine waking up with beautifully shaped brows and not have to worry about drawing them on or wiping them off during the day. The same for eyes and lips, it’s a convenient alternative and will save you time each day. Semi-permanent makeup is also particularly suitable for people who have suffered hair loss, are allergic to conventional makeup, people with poor vision and for anyone with busy or sporty lifestyles.
Longevity varies for every individual and is affected by skin type, pigment colour, external factors such as sun exposure which can fade the enhancement quicker. Pigment can stay in the skin for 1-3 years sometimes longer but a colour boost is recommend every 12-18 months to keep it looking fresh. Brows may need more regular maintenance.
Absolutely, the pigments used are high quality hypo-allergenic pharmaceutical grade.  Catherine is a certified, licensed and insured professional, something you should make sure of when choosing your technician.  A single use sterile disposable needle is used for each client and procedures are carried out under strict conditions and regulations.
Your comfort is of utmost importance to Catherine and numbing creams are used prior to and during the procedure to minimise any discomfort. Clients often say how relaxing the whole experience is.
Most people are suitable for treatments. Your medical history will be taken into account during consultation. Pregnant or nursing mothers cannot be treated.
Catherine will discuss your requirements during a full consultation and will select suitable colours specific to your skin tone, eye and hair colour before designing the template of your enhancement. This is an important part of the procedure as colour and shape are agreed before treatment commences to ensure that you will be happy with the final results.
An appointment usually takes around 1.5-2 hours taking into account the consultation, design and colour selection, numbing procedure and aftercare advice. The follow up appointment will take less time.
There may be some slight swelling and redness in the area immediately following a procedure which will subside after a couple of hours. The enhancement will look darker and more intense immediately following a procedure which will soften and lighten upon healing, usually over 7-10 days. During that time there may be a little dryness / flaking therefore Catherine recommends 2 weeks healing before special occasions. You will be given written and verbal aftercare instructions which are important to achieve best results.  People often go about their normal routine following treatment and don’t feel it necessary to take time off work.
After your initial treatment, Catherine will invite you for a return visit 4-8 weeks later to reinforce the pigment or replace any pigment that is lost during the healing process. It is natural for some people to lose some pigment after the initial treatment and that is why a return visit is an important part of the treatment process in completing your enhancement. All maintenance thereafter is at a discounted cost for existing clients.
Yes, once the area has healed. It is recommended that you keep the area dry and free of cosmetics for at least 10 days following treatment to prevent infection.
